Log

  • Very very severe gale. This is developing into a bad gale. Winds over 50 knots.
  • Most terrible squall for the whole voyage went through. Goodness knows what the strength was as anemometer only goes to 50 knots. It would have been 60+ knots. Big seas and a bad one.
  • Got a bit of broken glass on my foot extracted with tweezers.

Log

  • Decided to sail south of the Aghulas Bank, risk scary gales but feel risk of collision with shipping the greater risk nearer to Cape Agulhas. I must give the south east tail of the Aghulas Bank a wide berth as it is a dangerous region for breaking waves.

Log

  • A winters night continues, squall after squall after squall with rain & hail.
  • Though one could see the sun at noon through the cloud & ok at times during the day, I am not attempting to gain sights with the sextant as I have 1000 miles of sea.
  • Today I break Perie Banou’s record of 419 days 22 hours 10 minutes (420 days) alone & without stopping at sea. Crossed 0 degree meridian from W to E today.
