  • Spent the last 2.5 hours scrubbing the deck, 3/4 done getting black weed slime off the deck. Not much wind.
  • Job done, most big barnacles off. Hard to pull off than last time (7 months ago same region). I was not keen to stay too long in the water because of risk of a shark.

  • Enough fresh water has been captured which should see me safely north of the equator – hooray!
  • I have now run out of mentholated spirits needed to prime the stove – after more than 1 year of specially conserving, now I must prime with kerosene – not good. Too smokey & not as safe

  • Made adjustments to self steering lines, whilst doing so I scrubbed servo rudder & dropped my last scrubbing brush over board. It was so calm I thought I could drop the mainsail & swim after it. – but no – the water is a bit cold. So I steered the yacht around. I found & recaptured the scrubbing brush. I returned my attention to the self steerer & there 4 ft down 10 ft stern was a 5ft shark. – it never showed on the surface.
