  • Oh dear a gale force squall & rain – will put more reefs into main, when it passes. Days and days of northerly component in the wind here’s hoping it does not go south down these latitudes when I’m coming back and going the other way. It is rough & humid at the moment, lots of water over the deck, wind is strong to near gale.
  • Sun over Tropic of Capricorn today. Bean spouts are spouting nicely.

  • Heavy shower of rain went over, now got rain bucket out. Gosh catching lots of rain water.
  • I have just placed the last & largest number of bean sprouts into fresh water – they should be ready by Xmas day.
  • Ship on horizon. Ship starboard beam closing fast. Ship passed 150 yards ahead of yacht. Made contact VHF radio 16 they took a telegram from me. Text being to Dr John Penrose Curtin University Western Australia. All is well with the yacht and I am in good spirits looking forward to arrival in Australia. Kind Regards Jon Sanders.

  • Tri light on top of mast no longer works, nor do steaming, deck or strobe lights, nor do the nav lights on the pulpit – they all got smashed up 7 months ago, only one (of the 2) red over red ‘not under command’ lights work on the mast & one of the stern lights on the pulpit still works
